Electro-pop may be the new alt-folk, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Yes, we’ve heard a plethora of new tracks this year with synthesizer dependencies, but the good ones still stand out. One of our favorite labels, Lefse Records, has announced its first 7-inch series! We’re really excited about this, and the first release by Psychic Twin is stellar. The series will continue with singles from Mister Lies, Sun Glitters, Field Mouse, Matthew Cooper of Eluvium and Big Search (Matt Popieluch of Fool’s Gold / Foreign Born). Each 7-inch will be limited to 500 copies, but will be available digitally.
Psychic Twin will be dropping “Gonna Get Her” b/w “Deepest Part” on June 26th. The single is everything we love most about the electro-pop meets new-wave movement. Erin Fein’s voice was created for this purpose. This is a song you can crank up at a party or play in the background while you pretend to study. It’s fitting for almost any situation and gets better with each listen. That’s the formula for success. During the choruses, Fein sings, “Are you gonna get her or are you gonna let her go?” Please tell us you’re gonna get the 7-inch.
