dan le sac will release his debut solo album, Space Between The Words, via Sunday Best on July 10th. Last week he shared the awesome new video for “Play Along,” which features Sarah Williams White. It takes the viewer on a trippy TV-journey through a Grindhouse VHS tape, to a saturday morning cartoon, to an 8-bit video game, and to ultimately end in an action figure commercial adventure.
Written, produced, and sung by Dan himself, the upcoming album features collaborations with Emmy the Great, Merz, Sarah Williams White, B Dolan, Joshua Idehen, and Pete Hefferan. Known for his long-standing partnership with Scroobius Pip, Dan is adding some unexpected colors to the palette and they’re vividly splashed all over Space Between the Words. On the new record, Dan lets the spotlight fall on some fresh new vocalists. He also works with one of his musical heroes, the cult electronic folk singer Merz, who appears on the album’s opening number. The pulsing house-pop gem, “Long Night of Life,” and the lush melodic song “Zephyr” both seem to have escaped from the late 1960s via le sac’s electronica time machine. le sac has created a smart, effervescent debut with a broad appeal that straddles multiple genres. It’s a sharply individual snapshot of modern pop’s endless possibilities.
