Brooklyn’s pride and joy, The Antlers, is set to release a new album, Undersea, on July 24th via Anti. The band entered the studio in January and crafted an absolutely beautiful record. The first single, “Drift Dive,” is an ethereal track that speaks to the soul. The Antlers impressed us with Hospice and Burst Apart, but the evolution of this band is truly exciting. The music has a calming effect that is desperately needed, especially during a polarizing election season. The band had this to say about the new album:
“Undersea is the feeling of suspension- memories suspended in time and space, energy suspended in the air around us. It’s the serenity of drifting off to sleep or of sinking to the bottom of the ocean. It’s both the comfort of knowing that some questions have no answers, and the torment that we’re never meant to know the truth…We’ve searched for patient, colorful sounds and found a meditative calm, a persistent pulse that leaves room for everything to breathe and expand as a new world takes shape.”
You can catch The Antlers live on September 8th at Uptown Untapped at The Common Table. They will be performing alongside Givers, Akron/Family, David Dondero, and more. Purchase your tickets here.
Take a deep breath and ease yourself into “Drift Dive” below. If we had more music like this, we’d all be better off.
